Supernatural Encounters...

On Saturday evening I went to see hubby play at a Christian event and I just so happened to sit next to a friendly stranger (Jay), who in no time I got to chatting with about faith and church experiences. We exchanged phone numbers and after the event, I told hubby about this interesting encounter I'd had earlier with Jay, and after a few text messages back and forth, she mentioned her church and where she fellowships etc. Hubby and I then made a rather spontaneous decision to visit her church the following day, not sure why but we just thought why not?...

So early Sunday morning, we got to the church just after 9:30am and found ourselves attending a beautiful intimate service where the worship was so raw and authentic, it reminded us both of past church experiences we'd had.

After worship, the pastor then proceeded to say, (I'm paraphrasing here) "I have a word for someone here and I hesitate to say this because sometimes this can drive people away and make them feel some type of way but I have learnt over time to be obedient to what God tells me to do"...

Pastor then went on to prophesy directly to my husband, relaying what God had told him to say to him as soon as he had walked into the church. Mind you, this is our first time at this church and the only person we sorta knew there was Jay, the friendly stranger from the past night's event. Anyway, pastor went on to provide bible verses alongside his prophecy, he then asked my husband to meditate on the verses and pray on the word that he had received, reminding him that the bible says to, "...not despise prophecies, but to test everything and hold fast to what is good" (1 Thess 5:20-21). The church service ended a few minutes after this happened and as vain as this sounds...it honestly felt like this service was specifically orchestrated just for us to attend so that God could speak to my husband through a man we had never met before!

Later that afternoon, we got to talking about the prophecy and what had happened, and even though he hadn't had time to pray and meditate over it yet, hubby knew that the prophecy received was relevant, timely and needed for the season of life he's currently in.

God has a way of speaking, sometimes through the most unlikely means.

We thought we just happened to make what seemed like a random decision to visit a new church...but I believe now that God orchestrated this moment and He had us exactly where He wanted us to be so He could speak. A reminder that He can use anyone to speak to us.

If I hadn't gone to the event or been receptive to Jay's kindness, I wonder whether we'd have completely missed out on this encounter or if God would have found another way to speak...

I'm left wondering how many godly encounters sometimes disguised as random meets I may have overlooked in the past by not being kind or friendly to someone - only God knows.

However, my encouragement from this weekend's experience is the reminder that; God Hears. He loves us deeply and He cares about what bothers us. There's no limit to whom or what God can use to speak to us for encouragement, affirmation, wisdom, guidance or discernment.

You never know, He may just also have you bumping into strangers and attending what may seem like random events all to get you exactly where He wants you to be when He speaks.

I'm reminded to be kind and attentive to the people I meet, and to ask God to help me be receptive when He speaks in ways I might not be used to.

Have you ever had a supernatural encounter with God that you just couldn't explain? I'd love to hear from you.🤎

Catch you in the next post!
