Navigating the World of Voice Over Auditions: From Submission to Client Feedback

It's been almost four weeks now or so since I completed my Voice-Over Course with Beylearning and it's been exciting and challenging at the same time. Exciting because of the possibilities that exist within this world, when I look at the careers of those that I think have made it in this industry, those who have a strong footing and are at what I would describe as the pinnacle of this industry, it's certainly exciting and inspiring! It's the encouragement of knowing that I can reach similar heights as well, it's not impossible.
But it's been challenging as well. Being at the beginning of a journey, career or experience can feel intimidating. There's so much more to learn and I've found that I've had to talk myself out of imposter syndrome and even fear, the fear of what others will think, the fear of failure, the fear of making mistakes etc...but it's a part of the journey and I've been pushing through with auditioning for voice over work! 💪
So let's talk auditions...
I have auditioned for different kinds of work over the last few weeks and I have enjoyed working with the different scripts and exploring just how dynamic my voice can be...who knew?! I'm learning what's like to make my voice sound approachable and warm, energetic and vibrant, wiser and older or even more animated etc.
If I'm honest, I was auditioning but not really expecting to hear back from clients so early in my journey. In my mind, being a newbie in such a competitive industry with so many established experts justified this flawed reasoning, so when I got positive feedback from a client about a recent audition I submitted, I just about ran through the walls of my house and squashed my poor husband! 😁 I was ecstatic! This is no exaggeration, I ran up and down the corridor about three times and jumped (more liked dived) onto my hubby who was sitting on the living room couch!
It's exciting and validating to hear back from auditions. To know that the work being put in is not in vain, because I know it can feel like that sometimes. So as I type this post, I'm on my way home to possibly record my first paid voice over gig! I'll keep you updated! 😊
Catch you in the next post,
Chich.
